Hi there! I'm Lindsey Van Zile, and I'm the creator of Burg Beer Gardens. I am native to New Jersey, but I've called many places home over the years, including Lynchburg Virginia. I graduated from University of Lynchburg in 2017 with a BA in Environmental Studies. After my undergraduate experience, I taught outdoor and environmental education to students K-12 in Maine, New Hampshire and Boston. Little did I know, these locations are wonderful areas to sample some delicious craft beers!

In 2021, I moved back to Lynchburg, VA to pursue my MA in Nonprofit Leadership Studies at University of Lynchburg. In addition to being a full time graduate student, I took on roles of Graduate Assistant for Campus Sustainability and Campus Gardener. These positions helped me discover some of the flaws in a large scale recycling system. In an attempt to reduce my own waste, I started to repurpose some of my cool beer cans into planters, and it took off!

I have so much fun attending markets because I get to meet so many awesome people who are passionate about plants and sustainability! I am always open to collaborating, creating community connections, and even just a fun chat. Please reach out and recycle with me!
